Bill & Fleur Get Married!

Bill & Fleur Get Married! is my first yarn purchase from Norah George Yarns. Again, I think the name of this colorway is a Harry Potter thing, but I'm not an HP fan so I can't be positive about that.
Anyway, this is the BFL Sock base which is 80% superwash Bluefaced Leicester, 20% nylon. These are just such happy colors together and make me think of spring. And yeah....I even bought a shirt to wear just with these socks.
Unfortunately/fortunately, I ended up getting a crazy amount of sock knitting time during an ER visit on the morning of my birthday, and waiting room knitting at a specialist the next day. So much time spent waiting-waiting-waiting that I finished the sock.
For some reason I cannot get a good picture of these socks. To be honest, I am terrible at picture taking, so user error is the issue here. Still, I love these socks and the cheerfulness of the color just makes me happy!

Birthday Yarn from Norah George Yarns!

Mark and the kids got me these two skeins of sock yarn from Norah George Yarns for my birthday!

The mostly purple one is 4 Privet Drive and is on the BFL Sock base which is 80% superwash Bluefaced Leicester, 20% nylon. The pink colorful one is Mermaid and on the Super Sock base which is 75% superwash Merino, 25% nylon.

I love Norah George Yarns. The colors are beautiful. There are a lot of Harry Potter colorways, but since I am not a HP fan I just pick out the colorways I like. Conversion rates and shipping from the UK does make this a more pricey yarn for those of us in the U.S.. It has become one of my special occasions yarns, hence these being birthday gifts.
Here they are caked up (that's some Berroco Vintage in the back). I picked the sock bases based on how much I liked the way the dye looked in each picture. I'm not too picky about sock bases. I do like it to have some nylon content, but I've knit socks out of several different combos and am pretty happy with them all.

I've cast on the Mermaid, but I have not had a lot of sock knitting time. Usually I can finish a pair of socks in a week, but I've been pushing to get my sweater done. Hopefully, I will have some finished socks to share soon!

Coffee Shop Socks

Finished another pair of socks. I started these late on Thursday and finished them Saturday night. They are knit out of Knit Picks Stroll Hand-Painted in the Coffee Shop colorway.

Not much else to say about them. Did the fish lips kiss heel. Seems like a pretty sturdy yarn. They are the third pair of socks for me, fourth pair so far this year.

And yes, I did immediately cast on another pair. I am in a sock knitting mood!

Birthday Yarn!

My birthday is on the 18th. All I want is yarn...of course! This lovely DK weight yarn from Hedgehog Fibres came to me from my brother and sister-in-law. It is the Juniper colorway.

I plan to knit this into the Castiel hat from Woolly Wormhead. More (and hopefully better looking!) pictures to come!

Pyramid Knitting Bag

I really needed and wanted a new knitting bag for my sock knitting. I have a box bag that I got years ago on Etsy. This time I wanted a different shape that would be a little easier to slip on my wrist to carry. I came across this sushi patterned one from Starknits on etsy.

It's great! It doesn't look like it would hold a lot, but it does. All my notions, needles and yarn fit in it without issue. I haven't had a chance to take it out and about as I've been sick. However, it has a large loop handle that will easily hang off my wrist and allow me to carry it anywhere...and even walk and knit!

I love knitting bags. I could easily use another three. I especially need notions bags! Perhaps the birthday fairy will gift me some for my birthday!

Standed Dyeworks

I recently found Stranded Dyeworks Podcast on YouTube. Amy is such fun to watch and I love the things she knits. Plus, she dyes and sells yarn!

Her website sells out quickly, but I really wanted to try some of her yarn. In particular, her Anti Valentine colorway that she only dyes once a year in February. The shop update that she had that would carry this colorway was at 10 am GMT. That meant I got up at 4:55 am my time in order to be online and ready to purchase yarn at 5 am. Yeah, I did it, and I got a kickass sock yarn for my troubles!

It took about a week and a half to get to Michigan from the UK. Not bad. Unfortunately, I caught the horrible cough/cold thing that the kids were passing around. My knitting energy was/is very lacking.

BUT!! I finished the socks Friday night! Yay! I absolutely love them. I am calling them my birthday socks because I plan to wear them when I got out for dinner on my birthday. I may have even planned an outfit around them ;-)

I did just buy another skein of yarn from Stranded. I have non-sock plans for this new one. Can't wait for it to get here!

I totally recommend checking out Amy's podcast. You can find it buy using the search tool on YouTube and putting in Stranded Dyeworks Podcast. Also, check out the yarn at www.strandeddyeworks.co.uk !!

Look! Finished Ziva socks! This is yarn from SeeJayneKnitYarns. It's 400 yards of 80/20 superwash merino and nylon. The colorway is Ziva.

I used the same vanilla sock recipe I always use, BUT! I am knitting a new heel on my socks. You can't see it in this picture (and what a crappy pic I took!) but I am using the Fish Lips Kiss Heel. I detest the name of this heel, but I love the actual heel. The pattern is a bit ridiculous with 16 pages of instruction. I literally only use three pages of it. Still, I guess I would rather have too much info than not enough. I haven't quite memorized the heel pattern yet, so I am still carting around those three pages in my sock bag.

SeeJayneKnitYarns is available on etsy.com
Fish Lips Kiss Heel is available on ravelry.com and only costs $1
